  1. P-80 GUNNERY PRACTICE

  3. The P-80 Shooting Star was America's first 
  4. operational jet fighter.  "Kelly" Johnson 
  5. and his "Skunk Works" at Lockheed 
  6. developed the P-80 in record time (less 
  7. than five months) in an effort to rush it to 
  8. front line service against the Luftwaffe.  
  9. As it was, only a handful of Shooting Stars 
  10. saw action toward the end of World War 
  11. II.  The first jet versus jet combat did not 
  12. actually occur until 1950 during the 
  13. Korean War.

  15. The P-80's standard armament was six 
  16. Colt-Browning M2 .50 caliber machine 
  17. guns mounted in the nose, with 300 rounds 
  18. per gun.

  20.                     YOUR MISSION

  22. A pair of Me 262 jets takes off from Bad 
  23. Zwischenahn Luftwaffe airfield as you 
  24. approach from the northwest.  Practice 
  25. deflection shooting against these non-
  26. agressive opponents.  To be accurate in a 
  27. deflection shot, you must lead your target 
  28. so that your bullets intercept its line of 
  29. flight.

  31. There are other German aircraft flying in 
  32. this area, so look around once you've 
  33. defeated the first pair.  If you cannot see 
  34. them in the air, check the map for their 
  35. positions.

  37. Your P-80 cannot be damaged and has 
  38. unlimited ammunition.

  40. Your mission will not end automatically.  
  41. You must choose to quit.  Please see your
